The outline plan
The Plan
The objective of the GGR is to create a railway in my back garden that blends into the garden offering realistic scenes of stations and structures, incorporating large sweeping curves no tighter than 10 foot radius with ample clearance’s. The railway is to be built on solid foundations as in concrete and block work as level as possible, landscaped into the garden. The railway also has to child proof, kids have an amazing knack of breaking stuff. The railway should not be completely visible from any part of the garden disappearing behind bushes trees and structures within the garden providing varying vistas of the line as you wonder around the garden. The starting point for the railway is a blank canvas (apart from 1 maple tree) the garden gently slopes away from the house down to one corner some 3 foot lower than the top. The budget for the railway is limited so recycling will be playing a major part. Hopefully when its complete it should provide hours of pleasure running steam engines.
