Welcome to the GGR, A 16mm scale railway around my garden
3The GGR is not based on any particular prototype railway, although there are hints of north Wales ,the Great Western railway and southern railway (L&B),if you take a look at some of the Pics in the gallery you'll see what I mean . The railway is a bit like a lot of modern day preservation railways, made up by a mixed bag of rolling stock engines and buildings depending on whats available. More to the point whatever takes my fancy, if funds allow.
The track its self is based on the two foot narrow gauge using peco 32 mm track (16mm to the foot) and currently runs right round my back garden ( approximately 200feet)over bridges and under the patio through a shed, with large sweeping curves around trees and bushes in one large continuous loop with a couple of stations , its been great fun building (although still not finished) and even more fun to use.
The Railway forms part of the garden rather than taking over the garden, blending in, providing a great outdoor space for the whole family. If your thinking of having a go at building a garden railway hopefully some of the stuff in these pages will be of help, or contact me on the contacts page and I will get back to you.
